A Proof-of-concept demonstrator for Cognitive Radio

چکیده
The Adaptive Ad-hoc Free Band Wireless Communications (AAF) project is researching the possibility of using Software Defined Radio for wireless networks that needs to operate in an unknown or even hostile radio environment. Each node in the network needs to be cognitive of nearby transceivers in order to prevent radio frequency interference from and to other users and to survive jamming. So, in our system each node scans the radio spectrum to see which bands are free, so that these bands can be used for communication by the AAF network. The target application of our system is in a disaster relief wireless network. Since the chance of occurrence of a major emergency is very low, it will be very economical if the communication network of the rescue team can find free spectrum when it is needed, instead of reserving a fixed portion of the spectrum. In this paper we present a concept of a physical layer architecture of the scanning system of an AAF network node, and we will elaborate on the question of how it can be evaluated with of the shelf hardware. Petri Net Based Controller Concept For Cognitive Radios in Wireless Access Networks
This paper will give a detailed discussion about the authors view on Software Defined and Cognitive Radio. After an introduction on different aspects of software radio and a novel approach on cognitive radio is presented. As proof of concept a software defined cognitive radio demonstrator termed Falcon was built up which is described afterwards. The Falcon is entirely based on a modular signal ...

The E2R-II prototyping environment, as part of the E2R-II project, is a framework that pretends to demonstrate the most promising radio resource management proposals that are developed within the project. Such demonstrations have been based on a dedicated proof-of-concept environment, which serves for validating the work in the areas of cognitive networks, reconfigurable terminals, enhanced rad...
متن کاملA Software-defined Radio Prototyping Platform for Cognitive Radio Applications
During the last decades, the demand for higher data rates in wireless communication systems grew steadily. While the number of communication systems increased significantly, the amount of available spectral resources has remained constant. To exploit spectral resources more efficiently, cognitive radio concepts have become of utmost interest. The goal of cognitive radio systems is to sense the ...

This paper presents our work on a demonstration platform for a software defined radio proof-of-concept. The aim of the demonstrator is to show seamless switching between different functions of an IEEE 802.11a [1] WLAN OFDM system on an adaptive execution environment. The mechanisms and interfaces for dynamic, reliable and secure Software Defined Radio (SDR) equipment reconfiguration are investi...
متن کاملExperimental Study of an Underlay Cognitive Radio System: Model Validation and Demonstration
Cognitive radio is one of the potential contenders that address the problem of spectrum scarcity by making efficient use of the currently allocated spectrum below 6 GHz. A secondary access to the licensed spectrum is only possible, if the cognitive radio systems restrict the interference to the primary systems. However, the performance analysis of such a cognitive radio system is a challenging ...
